Nevada Virtual Academy is committed to providing increased opportunity and greater access to all students regardless of their circumstances. Our courses are taught asynchronously and synchronously over the Internet.  Online Instructors will cultivate relationships with students and their parents, to create successful learning opportunities. Part-Time HS Spanish/French teacher Nevada Virtual Academy We are currently recruiting home-based, dually-licensed high school teachers to instruct our high school students across the state in Spanish and French through an online environment. JOB DESCRIPTION A part-time teaching position averaging 25-30 hours a week Directing the academic opportunities of every student in your class Managing and pacing multiple courses Engaging students in online coursework Traveling throughout the state to proctor testing and to attend professional development as needed Monitoring and analyzing students efforts Responding to student emails and phone messages within 24 hours (1 school day) Grading assignments, exams, and projects within 3 school days from the time that they are submitted Preparing for and hosting weekly Elluminate (web-conferencing) presentations for students in each class Evaluating student performance on assignments and providing instructional feedback regarding student performance Supplementing, enriching, and remediating where necessary Participating in staff meetings, IEP/504 meetings, and parent-teacher conferences via conference call Communicating clearly and frequently with students and parents (via email, phone, course announcements, and Elluminate sessions) Working as a team with the rest of the high school staffMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor’s degree Candidates possess a Nevada Teaching license and meet Highly Qualified status under NCLB for High School Spanish and French;  OR a teaching license for these subjects in the state which the teacher resides.  NOTE: Candidates must reside in Pacific or Mountain Time Zones. Possess excellent written communication skills Maintain command of theoretical knowledge of human behavior and learning including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation and feedback techniques Proficient in using email, managing files, recording and reporting grades electronically, and using computer applications including word processors and spreadsheets Highly organized, yet willing to be flexible as the NVVA high school program changes as it grows Willing to work with students and parents from a variety of socioeconomic and educational backgrounds OUT OF OFFICE REQUIREMENTS While NVVA high school teachers maintain home offices, there are numerous times throughout the school year where the teacher is required to travel. Per Diem Rates are utilized for reimbursement. Some examples are the following: Teacher trainings (usually virtual) at various times throughout the year Orientations Proctoring state exams (several times a year) Proctoring other school exams as needed Professional Development (held statewide and regionally several times a year) High School graduation (regional and statewide in June) Compensation includes competitive hourly salary based on 25-30 hours per week and commensurate with background and experience.  The school will only consider top candidates with relevant experience and a proven track record.
